About the Campaign
Do It Daily.
The ‘Do It Daily’ campaign emerged in response to the lack of awareness about this important prevention tool that we have encountered throughout the state while surveying people in populations with active HIV transmission. When we were not met by a lack of awareness, we were often met by a lack of accurate information or outright misinformation.
After surveying PrEP campaigns run in other cities and conducting our own research on the best ways to educate people about PrEP, we learned that people needed to know more than just that PrEP exists. Our conversations revealed that there was a thirst to know how to feel about PrEP, what to say about it, and how to share it.
People asked, “What is that one central statement that if you know nothing else you should at least know this?”
Taking that cue we developed three central themes for the campaign:
- We wanted to convey a sense of confidence that would motivate people to learn more.
- We wanted to highlight the importance of maintaining daily use (remaining adherent) in order for PrEP to be effective.
- We wanted to remind people that this isn’t about sex, this is about having a healthy active sex life whatever that means for you regardless of gender, orientation, behavior, or age.
‘Do It Daily’ isn’t just a call for those at risk of becoming infected with HIV to be adherent to PrEP. It is call for all of us to live a full, active, satisfying life without compromising on our health in the process.
